English language courses and museums in London
22.02.2012Soak up the culture on a language course in England
Dear Readers,
London is home to a wealth of museums, art galleries, theatres and music venues, making it the cultural heart as well as capital of the UK. Most of the top museums in London are free to visit. Seeing all the sights in one weekend can be tiring, though, so we recommend spending a little longer in the city to really explore all it has to offer. The ideal way to do this is by studying English here and staying with a friendly local host family or in a shared flat with people who can share their insider tips with you. At the LISA! Language School in London Bloomsbury, England, you’ll become fluent in English in just a few short weeks and be able to chat to locals in no time. This will help you to really get to know the local culture in a way that tourists generally never do.
The language classes are divided into groups according to ability, so everyone, from beginners to more advanced learners of all ages, is in the group that is right for them. On the first day your language level will be assessed and you will be assigned to a group. At the language school in London Bloomsbury you will have the chance to get to know bright, intelligent people from all over the world. Most of our customers travel to the language courses alone, allowing everyone to mingle and make interesting new friends from all corners of the globe.
Our language school is located in the leafy green neighbourhood of Bloomsbury, right next to the British Museum and just a few minutes’ walk away from major attractions such as Oxford Street and Buckingham Palace. For those interested in not only perfecting their English, but also discovering the city and its cultural gems, we recommend our London Cultural Experience course.
The interactive, entertaining and interesting lessons take place all around London in various museums and art galleries, giving you the chance to put your English into practice in the real world immediately and bringing the lessons to life! Classes will be led by one of our highly qualified teachers, all native speakers of English. This course was awarded the British Council’s Innovation Award for the creative teaching methods used. Examples of museums we visit include:
The British Museum: One of the most impressive collections of human history and culture in the world; top attractions include the Rosetta Stone (a must-see for linguists!) and the Egyptian mummies
The Victoria and Albert Museum: A fascinating museum named after Queen Victoria and her husband and dedicated to the history and present art and design.
The National Gallery: An extensive collection of artwork from the Medieval period up until the 20th century, including Sunflowers by Van Gogh. This stunning building is one of the main focal points of the famous Trafalgar Square.
